How reliable is the water supply in Puerto Vallarta? Are there water disruptions?
Paul Mayer - Vallarta Food Tours
The water supply in Puerto Vallarta is very reliable. In fact, I’ve never experienced water disruptions before. I live in a house on a newer development where the water supply is underground.
We just get our regular city water and don’t have our own water storage. There hasn’t been a time when the water supply went out, and we’ve been there for two years.

The worst reasons to retire overseas are financial and health reasons. If you’re moving overseas because you need to be in a country where it’s less expensive, that sets you off to a bad direction. If you’re moving overseas with the primary reason of a lower cost of living, you need to be careful.

Many retirees move overseas for a lower cost of healthcare. When you move overseas for healthcare, you need to understand that the quality of healthcare is typically lower than in the US, and the US healthcare that you may have through insurance or Medicare probably won’t work abroad.
You should be retiring overseas because you want to explore the world and its different cultures. Don’t retire overseas because it’s going to save you money or because you can get cheap healthcare. Generally, it would save you money, but if that’s your primary reason for retiring overseas, that’s one of the worst reasons to do so.
If you’re retiring overseas, you have to love and enjoy where you’re going, and you have to want to immerse yourself in that culture. If not, you would be miserable spending half as much money in the US, but you would still be miserable.
If bussing it around the country of Nicaragua is your preferred choice of transportation, you can get almost anywhere from Granada. For about $1 you can get to Managua on the "express" bus or for a little less on the "chicken" bus. There are buses to almost all parts of the country or at least a bus that will get you to another bus which will get you there.
Remember, this is Nicaragua and there are not too many rules. Wait, let me...

Remember, this is Nicaragua and there are not too many rules. Wait, let me rephrase, there are rules, just not a lot of enforcement. So, a 25 passenger bus may have as many as 50 people on it. You stand a lot and there is not any "personal space". It is first come, first serve and when that free seat opens, either dive for it or get out of the way!
Personally, I love taking the express bus to Managua, jump off at the mall, see a movie, have lunch, do a little shopping and head back to Granada, all for less than $10.
Is the electricity reliable in Algarve? Are there blackouts or brownouts in Algarve?
Luis Teixeira da Silva - Algarve Senior Living
The Algarve has hardly any blackouts or brownouts. We have a very, very reliable power source. In a typical year, we will have zero blackouts or brownouts.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a Belize passport?
Christian Burn
I don’t think there are too many disadvantages in having a Belizean passport.
Some of the advantages to having a Belizean passport in particular is not only does it give you access to the British Commonwealth because the Belizean passport is a Commonwealth passport, but a Belizean passport also gives you access to the Caribbean, or the CARICOM nations. (At last count, there’s about 15 or so CARICOM countries.)

The British Commonwealth nations include any colony of Great Britain, and that includes Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Belize, and Canada, among others. For example, an advantage I get as a Commonwealth nation member (Canada), living in another Commonwealth nation (Belize) is that, as a resident of Belize, I just have to register to vote. My Canadian passport with my Belizean residency allows me the ability to vote in Belize.
A Belizean passport allows you free trade and free travel between the CARICOM nations.
If you have a Belizean passport, visa access would certainly be a lot easier, whether it be via a tourist visa or via a residency visa access.
Welcome to Boquete. This charming town has changed a little and a lot in the last four years. We have watched as the economy has improved for the community. A great deal is based on tourism and the influx of expats. There has also been a worldwide increase in the higher-end coffees that grow in the mountains that tower over the towns of both Boquete and Volcan. Many small businesses have come and gone in the last four years. Growth is evident as the high school is currently...
Living in the western end of Panama has its charm as well as its challenges. We often hear that folks miss certain products from home and many make routine treks to Panama City to take advantage of greater product availability. The truth is, there is greater variety in Panama City than in smaller cities and towns. This is often the case in more urban areas. But here in Chiriqui, if you look around long enough you are usually able to find most of what of you need in...
At the edge of the Atlantic, which a persuasive current has aided the migration of Europeans to cleave the Isthmus of Panama for the Canal, and now mid- stream central to the modern jet route along the north/south latitude of the Latin regions, Manual Baruco is in the perfect position to contemplate his country’s position in the world. Jet Metier also discovers that Manuel could be also considered an all- American boy.
