A Sunday Walk into Boquete

On a sunny Sunday morning, my husband and I walked into Boquete. We live about 2 miles away, uphill from the little town of Boquete. The walk is all downhill. We pass the three-story, bright yellow Tourist Information Center as we go towards the curve that takes us down to the streets below. We pass trees that are very old, very big and many are covered in plants, flowers and vines that grow on the trunks and branches that wind upward towards the deep blue sky and warm sunshine.

With warm sunshine making everything so beautiful and bright, we snap photos of flowers on the tree tops, of huge bouquets dancing in the light breeze as we pass by. Colorful pastels, bright reds, yellows and oranges welcome our eyes as the long walk takes us past colorful cottages and casitas. The brooks rush by on their way to the river, birds chirp and sing all along the way.

A Sunday morning crowd fills the plaza where the locals wait for buses or a taxi. They shop, or just enjoy the park area downtown.  Romero is always a busy store with shoppers buying groceries or medicines, maybe a floral bouquet for a Sunday dinner table. Vendors park trucks near the store and people purchase fresh produce, fruits or fish.

Boquete has most things you need, maybe not everything you want. Dry goods, appliances, furniture, clothing, shoes, computer stores. Many phone stores. While not upscale shopping, it does offer a chance to be among people, nice people who have a rich history and a colorful past.  You can buy a purse for three dollars or a designer style for three hundred. It is a place of good food, of happy people and small time commerce. Here are the pictures from our walk.
