Pride is a very common trait among the human race.  Everyone shines when they talk about their grandchildren, children, pets and accomplishments in their life.  But, what about when you talk about a group of young people, who, with great effort and discipline have accomplished a dream, not only the dream of their family, but the dream of their country as well?

This is the story of the HERBERTO LOPEZ BAND, from the José Daniel Crespo High School, in the town of Chitré, Republic of Panamá.

This group of enthusiastic young boys and girls have met the biggest challenge of them all, making their way to one of the main and most respected parades in the world...the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

But at what cost have they met this dream...and dreams yet to come?  All of them come from underprivileged families, where in some cases, they only eat once a day, because their household doesn´t have the proper income.  But teachers, friends and local businesses saw the potential in them, and have helped them in any way.

Nevertheless, dreams are not met solely because others have helped; they are met because each and every one gives their very best, sacrificing every day, through long practices in rain or shine, sometimes with the not so great attitudes of others that one always finds in one's life.

This group of young people gives everything to go forward as citizens, as valued family members, with God guiding their lives.  That gives them strength  to continue and be the best.   And that´s why...they got an invitation to participate in this parade...because they are our heroes...they are the best.  And they will do what they do best...share their music, their talents and their joy to bring Panama to the world.

Don´t miss the parade, and don´t miss the video at the beginning of this story.  You will not regret it.
This group still needs all the help they can get.  If you are able to help in any way, please contact: goberncl (at) cwpanama.net.  Those donating will receive a receipt by the band along with a special sticker, in appreciation.  Checks can be sent to this Miami address, for easier mailing:
