One of the many interesting places that I have visited while living here in Panama is the Barril Sites which has so much information on petroglifs and history from long ago. The lady who lives there and who is also the tour guide is so very informative. I have taken so many geologists from around the world that have come just to visit her area. So when you are in Volcan stop by and enjoy the history from long ago of Panama. She may also have her homemade jams with crackers that...

One of the things we love to do is to take visitors for 'Natilla' (Custard) in a small shop called Alinas. It is on the road from Volcan to Cerro Punta, on the left hand side as you are going up, past the Bambito resort. They offer the Natilla with fresh strawberries, blackberries or just by itself; it is a wonderful treat. Refreshing climate and refreshing for the palate. They have tables outside to sit and enjoy.

In comparison to other places, not to disparage other communities because other communities have great places to go out and eat, I have found that the best pizza in our province, Chiriquí, is found in a place called Dos Ríos in Volcán. The best Italian food that I’ve eaten is found in a place called La Carbonera in Volcán. The best Mexican food in Chiriquí is found in a place called Burricos in Volcán.

We all know that the very best coffee in Chiriquí, in Panama, and in the whole world is found at the Janson Coffee Farm right here in Volcán. There are a lot of places here in Volcán that you will really enjoy frequenting if you live in Volcán for the food atmosphere.
Other than food, there are tremendous things to do in Volcán. We have not one but two different mountain ranges- the Baru, a volcano, and Tisingal Mountain Range, which features hot springs. It’s about a 55-minute hike back to the hot springs, and it’s just like what you would think of a hot spring- people go in and swim and they enjoy it, and the views are beautiful.
There’s so much to do as far as hiking and the outdoors here. It’s just gorgeous- it’s a mountain community. It reminds me the most of out West in the United States. It’s just gorgeous.
