The best way to get around in Puerto Vallarta depends on where you’re going and the weather. When it’s very hot, especially in summer, it is more advisable to take a car because as soon as you get out of the shower, you’ll be sweating because of the humidity, so it is not the best time to walk. But during winter, when it’s fresh, you can take your bike, or you can walk and enjoy the entire city and explore. You can take your time, as it is neither hot nor cold.
Taxis are expensive in Puerto Vallarta because it is an expensive city for services but you can always take the bus or drive your car to move yourself from one place to another easily. If you take a bus from the airport and you want to go all the way to the end of Puerto Vallarta on the south side, you might spend about 45 minutes including the traffic. My house is located 10 minutes away from the office but during the winter I take my bike or walk, which usually takes me 8 minutes from my house to the office and I arrive completely fresh, after enjoying the ride.
