If you lived in the Cayo District and wanted to go to the beach, you could go to Guatemala or you would have to come back down through and go south to the island that leads to Honduras off of Dangriga. You could also go all the way down to Placencia, or you could go to the airstrip in Cayo and fly to San Pedro, on Ambergris Caye.
The closest beach would probably be Hopkins, which is two and a half hours away by car.
