You can enjoy many adventure travel and activities in Cayo such as birdwatching, canoeing, caving, exploring Mayan sites, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking, pontoon boat rides on Vaca Lake, river tubing, rock climbing, spelunking, swimming, Ziplining. Within minutes of the Village of Benque Viejo, you can cross the border into Guatemala. Enjoy the trail to Xunantunich from the Guatemala side. Check out Tikal, Flores and Antigua and El Mirador, the recently discovered largest pyramid – by volume, not height – in the world. Fifteen times bigger than Tikal!

The top thing to do in our area is to go to the ATM Cave (Actun Tunichil Muknal), which was named the #1 Sacred Cave in the world by National Geographic. It’s an amazing cave to visit. There are lots of other very nice caves that you can visit such as Che Chem Ha Cave, Offering Cave, Crystal Cave, Saint...

There are lots of other very nice caves that you can visit such as Che Chem Ha Cave, Offering Cave, Crystal Cave, Saint Herman’s Cave, etc.
But you find lots of other activities in Cayo as well. You can go horseback riding to caves or temples. You can swim in rivers and waterfalls. Just recently, I drove down to Toledo and I did some waterfall rappelling. That’s not in Cayo but it’s close. You can also go cave tubing or zip lining in Cayo. There are exceptional Maya temple sites of different sizes.
