Can I see beautiful flowers, plants and trees in or around Cayo, Belize, including San Ignacio and Belmopan?

There is no shortage of flowers, plants, and trees around the Cayo District and San Ignacio in Belize. You have the Botanical Gardens in the Duplooys River Lodge Resort, which is a great walkthrough. They have a lot of species gathered in one area so you could just walk through on a self-guided tour and see a lot of the beautiful foliage there. You will pay a small entrance fee, they will give you a little book, and you can go on your self-guided tour. I have done that. I live here,...

I live here, so I’ve already seen everything, but I still enjoyed that tour.
If you just want to go on your own, there is a lot of great hiking and there are a lot of plants and wildlife in the jungle just outside of town, which is just around a mile or two away. If you own a piece of land, you will probably have a lot of flowers, plants, and trees right on your property.
There are lots of indigenous plants but then a lot of people also plant lots of ornamental flowering trees in their garden, which are brought from all over the world.

Belize in general, and specifically the Cayo District has beautiful flora and fauna. Our national flower is the Black Orchid. We also have ancient trees like the ceiba trees and mahogany trees, which has been a huge part of our history due to the logging that was done here in Belize back when Belize was still British Honduras. The British people came here and did a lot of logging. The Mayan civilization has several superstitious beliefs surrounding the ceiba trees.

We have nice bougainvillea flowers and different species of roses so indeed the Cayo area is very colorful and green as you see all these beautiful flowers, plants, and trees.
