Nicaraguan Memories

This website is specially designed for people seeking to move to a different country, mostly for retirement, or for new adventures.

In that spirit, I would like to share beautiful memories of when I first visited Nicaragua, in my teens....and I´m a senior now.

I was probably 13, and very enthusiastic about the idea of visiting my family, and making new friends in Nicaragua.  I became enchanted with the country of Nicaragua and her people.  (Not to mention I had my first dance at that time, at the beautiful country club.)

I was delighted to meet new people every day; they were eager to make me feel at home.  I went several times to "Casa Colorada", a beautiful place in the mountains, about 30 minutes from Managua.  At that time, I became fond of horses, and I went horseback riding with my cousins and friends almost every day, during vacations.

We visited San Marcos, Jinotepe, Granada, Masaya and so many other beautiful towns and cities in Nicaragua, and in every single one, we were welcomed like home.

That beautiful view of the "Momotombo" is and was especially spectacular.

I especially enjoyed the  restaurant "Tipitapa",where we could catch our own fish, and "plop" into the pan in the kitchen.

When I started school, everyone was very nice, and asking questions about Panamá [where I was from].  I was very proud to conduct some educational programs, even though I was very young.

Years later, when we returned again, it was time to go to college.  I studied languages at the university there in Nicaragua, and my best friend and I decided to go to Florida in the US to continue our studies in business.

Making friends in Nicaragua is very easy.  The women really care about fashion, and the men are very courteous.  They take out the chair for ladies at restaurants, and take your arm for walking.   It comes so naturally to them.   They are also very romantic.  Their heavy accent makes it so picturesque.

Easy and friendly people, combined with a beautiful land all over the country, makes Nicaragua a beautiful place to live.
