To get to David, go straight down the mountain to Concepción, and then take a left onto the Inter-American Highway, and then a right into David over toward Pedregal, where the airport is. There are very nice, paved, two-lane American-style roads all the way from Volcán to the airport in David.
There are flights all day long from David to Panama City and vice versa. The flight from David to Panama City lasts for only 35 minutes, and there are two different carriers that provide flights between Panama City and David: Copa Airlines and Air Panama.
You can go to Expedia and use the airport code DAV for David and check flights from your point of origin all over North America or Europe, and find out exactly to the dollar what it costs, and how long the flight will be. It automatically routes you to Tocumen Airport in Panama City, but you end up at your final destination here in Chiriquí which is David (DAV). A one way flight from David to Tocumen costs around $85.
From the international airport in Panama City, the world is at your fingertips. You can go anywhere your heart desires. Panama City is a major international destination, and there are direct flights to multiple places in the United States and in the world. One of the longest non-stop flights in the world is the flight from Panama City to Dubai.
When I was growing up, I always heard that St. Louis was the gateway to the West in the United States. That’s similar to hearing Panama City is the gateway to Central and South America for the rest of the world. A lot of flights come in to Panama City from North America, Europe, and Asia. These flights are routed to Costa Rica and all the Central American countries. Many of the flights also go to Colombia and other points of South America. Panama is a huge hub for international travel.
The flights to Panama City are reasonably priced. Living in Volcán when I’m from Central Kentucky, I tend to travel back and forth between Kentucky and here. I usually pay under $700 for roundtrip tickets between Volcán and Kentucky which is very affordable.
