They were repainted from yellow to red and other bright colors and heavily illustrated with popular motives. On the back you'd generally find a mountain landscape and motivational sayings such as "If God is with me, who can be against me?" framing the portrait of a well-known personality. (I recently spotted a portrait of President Obama!). It was folk art-in-motion, complete with salsa music at full blast and intrepid driving.
