San Francisco is a neighborhood in Panamá City, Panamá. Strictly speaking, it does not have a major medical center like some other neighborhoods. But as Panamá City is very small, within 30 minutes or less you can find all kinds of modern hospitals and clinics. For example: Punta Pacífica (John Hopkins) Hospital, San Fernando Hospital, Paitilla Hospital are all close by. All three have specialized medical buildings and offer all kinds of treatments and surgeries, as well as very modern laboratories and X-Ray centers.
In San Francisco itself there are two complete walk-in clinics close to the park, in Vía Porras, open at day time, and an open MRI center, as well as some optical clinics. The wait time in a clinic could be 10 minutes and the time for emergency care at any of the hospitals is immediate. The specialized clinics require an appointment to be made in advance, and upon your arrival, your wait time could be between 15 to 30 minutes. To get an appointment with certain specialists you may have to wait from one to 15 days, depending on the demand of that particular doctor.
The cost at the walk-in clinic is $15 for an office visit plus any x-ray or lab. A visit to a specialist could be from $40 to $175. There is also some alternative medicine available.
