Most doctors in Panama receive a medical degree from the School of Medicine at the University of Panama, but receive their training at US hospitals. Yes, there are American-trained doctors in San Francisco, Panama City. We have two hospitals in the area: Punta Pacifica Hospital and Paitilla Hospital, which has been around a little bit longer. Punta Pacifica Hospital is affiliated with Johns Hopkins in the US and there are many doctors there who were trained locally here in Panama and went abroad to the US to study their internship and some of their medical school as well.
The doctors here in San Francisco are good doctors....

The doctors here in San Francisco are good doctors. I had the pleasure of visiting some doctors recently and I give nothing but high scores for all of the doctors that I have visited here.
Healthcare is also significantly cheaper here in Panama as well, so healthcare is one of the things that you will save money on here in Panama. On average, a doctor’s visit here will run you around US $60 to $80, whereas in the US, the rates are governed by the insurance companies more so than the physicians’ practices themselves, so they charge insurance companies significantly higher rates than the $60 to $80 that you pay here in Panama.
The quality of the doctors here in San Francisco is very comparable to the doctors in Miami, Florida, where I used to live. The services that you receive from a doctor here in San Francisco are on par with the level of care that we receive in the US.
