What are the expats like in the Panama City, Panama area of San Francisco?

The expat groups in the San Francisco area of Panama´ City, Panama´ are not yet quite organized, but there are a large number of foreigners living here. They all get together and love to walk in the park, or go for lunch or any social activity. They get together to do exercises or yoga, and walk their pets every morning. Most of them seem very happy to live here, and enjoy a different culture and warm people. They love to buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the grocery store, or the Chinese place that sells items to them every day, at wonderful prices.
San Francisco is very centrally located, and expats from other nearby neighborhoods, like Punta Pacifica, Punta Paitilla or Cangrejo get together and make a big group. Sometimes they go for field trips to the country or the beach.
The expats in the San Francisco area of Panama´ City are mainly English-speaking or French-speaking, and get along very well with locals. But specifically, they love to go out and eat at restaurants or go to a movie, to enjoy their 25% senior discount.

A lot of the expats who live in San Francisco, Panama, come from Venezuela. There are also many from Colombia. Many Europeans or North Americans expats who come to Panama to retire choose to live in areas like Boquete, the countryside, or the beaches. The reason is that, in the city (Panama City, where San Francisco is located), by comparison, you have a lot of traffic and noise, and lots of European and American expats are looking for something more tranquil, more...

What the expats are like in the San Francisco area of Panama City is an interesting topic because the growth in Panama City has been astronomical in the last couple of years. We have a lot of people from North America but we also have a lot of expats coming from South America, especially Venezuela and Colombia.

What makes it interesting is that everywhere you go, there are expats; maybe not English-speaking expats but there are people not from Panama. Panama has opened its doors and is very inviting to people from other countries. It’s very similar to what I have experienced living in Toronto, which is a very multi-cultural city with people from all over the world. You get that in Panama City as well. The expats are from all parts of the Americas, both North and South, and they interact and they get along together very well.
Because there are so many expats there are lots of expat groups and expat events where they can go to and get involved in the community.
