How are the roads in Granada, Nicaragua? Do I need a four-wheel drive in Granada, Nicaragua?

Granada, Nicaragua is a small city with narrow streets, which, thankfully, are paved. Not to say there are not pot holes or rough areas around town, but you do not need a four wheel drive vehicle.

The roads in Granada, Nicaragua are very good. You only need a four-wheel drive if you are planning to go to the north or if you are planning to go to the beach. Otherwise, you don’t normally need a four-wheel drive. Granada has paved roads, so you could just have a regular car. It’s not really a problem. Any place you want to go, whether it’s to the ocean or to the base of the volcano or the lake or the center of town, a regular car is just fine.

Mombacho Volcano is very close to Granada, and you would need a four-wheel drive to go all the way up there because you will go up some trails and I am not sure if you can take just a regular car.

You don’t need a four-wheel drive in Granada, Nicaragua. When you drive in Granada, you could tell that the government is working hard in improving the roads. You can easily drive around Granada in a sedan, even in the rainy season.
You can go to the Pueblos Blancos, the White Towns, to Rivas, and everywhere you want to go and you will be driving on good roads. If you go to the countryside, that’s another story. If you go to the country,...
