Will American retailers ship to Nicaragua?

Yes, some American retailers will ship to Nicaragua.
I always tend to buy stuff online. I really like online shopping, and yes, most of the stores offer the shipping to Nicaragua, for an international delivery fee, which when you think about it, is not really that much.

If some of the stores do not offer the option to ship to Nicaragua, that would not be an issue.
NICABOX is a company which provides you with a mailbox with an U.S address. How does it work you may ask?
All you have to do is pay an annual fee of $30, and they provide you with a US address where you have others ship to you. Then NICABOX handles all of the customs issues, and you'll only have to pay the fee requested by the customs office.

More American retailers are shipping to Nicaragua than in the past. Certain ones will. Additionally, PayPal is in Nicaragua now. Regular mail is unreliable. You have to ship UPS or you have to ship FedEx. Normally, there’s a pickup location.

You can buy brands here in Nicaragua so you don’t necessarily have to have everything shipped from the States. We have Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Kenneth Cole, Pull & Bear, Zara, etc.
Nicaragua also has sweatshops that do all the sewing for brands that are sold in places like Target, Circo, Carter’s, Rock & Republic, etc. Sometimes even H & M would have items that say “Made in Nicaragua.”
Clothes from these sweatshops that are not...

Clothes from these sweatshops that are not sewn up to standard get rejected and you can buy them at a local market like Mercado Oriental. You can buy Circo leggings for your little girl for about 15 cordobas (US 50 cents), which is great! I don’t mind putting on leggings that are not up to standard on my daughter.
American retailers can ship to Nicaragua even if there are no addresses here because you can use P.O. boxes. You can get a P.O. box and get stuff sent down here but when you do that, you get charged by the weight of the item you’re shipping. The best thing to do is when you leave is to go with nothing in your suitcase, and when you come back from the States, you bring everything that you are missing. That’s what most people do or they rely on each other to bring stuff down from the US back here. We have expat groups here. Someone would say, “I’m going to the States, does anybody need anything?”

There are a few American retailers who ship goods down to Nicaragua. You’ll find all kinds of products from these American retailers in the stores, and you’ll be paying a little bit more than you would pay in the States because there’s an import tax for imported products. For example, Target and Nike have huge factories in Nicaragua. I went into Target and bought a shirt for my daughter and it said, “Made in Nicaragua.” A lot of things have been made in...

It’s kind of silly, but sometimes that’s the way it works.
If you like to buy from Amazon, you can get your purchase shipped, or get a JetBox in Miami and end up paying some taxes. My family and I buy from Amazon and we just ship everything to my parents’ house in San Diego. If I have a friend coming down to Nicaragua, my mom just puts our purchased goods in a big box, ships it to my friends who are coming over, and my friends bring it here. This process is a bit archaic, but that’s the way I roll.

My experience is that items sent by mail will not arrive unless sent insured. Items sent by UPS or FedEx means a trip to their office in Managua to deal with customs. DHL has some area offices and for a fee will act as your customs agent and deliver your item to the area office but no doorstep delivery.
Like others here have suggested I have items sent to an address in the States and bring the items down on my next trip. In so doing, you will avoid some of the problems and hassles you will encounter in shipping.
