Internet services are becoming greatly available in every part of Nicaragua (even in the most remote places). I use a basic internet connection from Claro with a USB stick I connect into my laptop that gives me 5 mps+ anywhere with cell reception. I can be in my car, on the beach, wherever. It costs a little more than $30 a month.

In Nicaragua, if you are planning to live near a primary city such as Leon, Managua or Granada, you can opt for Claro services. Possibly the worst company in Nicaragua, Claro offers internet service via USB or Turbonett (fiber optic). Unfortunately, once you get through their marketing pitch, and they convince you to sign a contract with them, you'll experience the worst service you can ever imagine. So, if you choose to go this route, be ready.

If you are outside of the city centers, you should look into IDEAY or IBW which can set up a private tower at your house and provide the fastest, most consistent internet. Its costly though at US $70-$130 a meg of download speed.

Internet costs in Nicaragua vary based on your location, but typically range from US $30 / month via a cell service provider (like Claro) to $60 / month via a satellite provider (like IBW or WIFINIC). These rates typically give 512/kps and most providers offer 1 mps for $80/month.

For my family of four, we pay US $54 a month for bundled services of cable TV, Internet, and a landline. The speed of the Internet for this package is 3 Mbps for downloading.
The Nicaraguan government has opened the market so the country will have more than two or three companies offering Internet services very soon. Hopefully, Internet services will improve because of this.

The cable TV service included in the $54 a month regular programming package has over 80 channels, including a few English channels, but are mostly local Nicaraguan channels.
Netflix is also easily available in Nicaragua and would have English-language shows.
Sky Cable is another company that offers cable TV services, but is more expensive, at $70 a month for the basic package. They offer more channels from the United States like CBS, Fox, and Cinemax.
