If I live in Mexico, do I have to renounce or relinquish my US citizenship?

I, for one, would never become a citizen of another country. There could be some problems with doing that. I could never denounce my US citizenship. The US passport opens a lot of doors.

I had a temporary Mexican visa before I had my permanent one, but I also did not relinquish my US passport then. You are a US citizen regardless of your visa status is in Mexico.
