Are there natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, fire or hurricanes in Volcan and Cerro Punta, Chiriqui Province, Panama?

Are there natural disasters in Volcan and Cerro Punta? No, the ocean is two hours away and earthquakes are rare. But, if you wonder about a volcanic eruption... Then it happened long long time ago-- around 1550.
The Volcán Barú is the tallest mountain in Panama, at 3,474 meters (11,398 ft) high.

I have been living in David (Chiriqui Province; just like Volcan, but nearer the ocean) for almost two months now. This is considered the rainy season, so, as in any tropical climate, you can expect the rains to come around 4 in the afternoon and be gone before 6. I have seen no flooding, even at times when we have had a pretty good downpour. There are no threats of hurricanes in this area. To me, being from South Florida, this is a pretty disaster free area to...
