With the arrival of thousands of foreigners, it has become more and more difficult to get service. At the present time, many local and foreign women offer their service for cleaning, cooking or taking care of the children. They have become very specialized, and usually they prefer to do only one task at the time, and work from 9 AM to 1 PM, if possible.
The price per month varies depending on the job to do, but it goes from $175 (for the local girls from the interior) to $900, especially if the job has special requirements.
Be careful when hiring a maid. Ask for references, police record and mainly if they have legal documentation to work and have legal residence in Panamá. If they don't, it could become a problem later. Also, be aware of the labor laws in Panamá; they are very specific.

If your housekeeper is live-in, you feed them, provide them a place to sleep, and there are no set work hours. If they don’t live there, how much you would pay really depends how many hours a day you want them to work. For example, if you had a cleaning lady that just came by and spent 3 to 4 hours in your home...

If they don’t live there, how much you would pay really depends how many hours a day you want them to work. For example, if you had a cleaning lady that just came by and spent 3 to 4 hours in your home cleaning, you would probably pay $25 to $30 for that cleaning.
