Where's the best sightseeing in and around the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area?

Sightseeing.... involves a lot. Pedasí, a nice beach area in the center of the Republic of Panamá, is by itself...a sightseeing area worth of a visit.

The sightseeing begins with the road a visitor has to take to arrive in Pedasí; full of green vegetation (especially in raining season, from May through November).
Pedasí constantly has surprising and new things to experience. You might see an exotic bird here, and a unique little animal fellow a few feet ahead, such as a the lazy monkey, that you can only find in Panamá. Along the modern highway, you will see small villages with individual colorful houses, churches and little parks, as well as mountains and hills.
On the road to Pedasí a visitor might like to overnight in "El Valle de Antón", a beautiful paradise with cool weather surrounded by mountains and flowers all year round. You will find a small exotic zoo with birds, orchids, plants and the almost extinct golden frogs. El Valle is a beautiful place for a honeymoon, or to renew your vows. You can find excellent quality art and crafts at very good prices.
The good thing about the trip to Pedasí is that you can stop at any time at any town, because the distances are very short. Or, you can do some good swimming at any beach in the area. Finding a good place to swim in the ocean in Panamá is not difficult at all, because Panamá is surrounded on both sides by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. And Panamá is the only place in the world where you can scuba dive at both oceans in the same day. Interesting, ah?
Panamá is a very small country, and far from being perfect, but Panamanians are willing to gladly share with visitors everything, and make you trip the best experience of visiting a foreign country ever. Panamá is not a perfect country, but it is full of smiling people trying to accommodate visitors.
A short distance from Pedasí you will still be surprised by the simplicity and the newness of things you will see every step of the way: cultural and folkloric dances, mini museums, art and craft centers, and woodworking artists, as well as cattle everywhere...and probably a horse here and there, crossing the streets. You will also see lots of old mango, marañon, avocado and all kinds of tropical fruits along the road. And, finally, when you arrive into Pedasí, you will see lots of interesting places, especially some fancy oceanfront mansions.
Driving around Pedasí is best done carefully, and perhaps with a local, if you don´t know the roads, because some of them not yet finished. You will enter into a new world.... not yet experienced... but that will be explained in the visitor´s own words, on a return trip to Panamá.

The sightseeing even in the actual town of Pedasi is beautiful. There are not a lot of towns that look like Pedasi and are laid out like Pedasi. Just walking around town you can visit the church and the town square, which is really beautiful.

If I were to take people sightseeing I would take them to all the beautiful beaches that we have. There are so many different styles of beaches to visit. For example, one of the beaches has a really nice break for surfing, another is kind of rocky with ride pools, another has lots of shells to look at, while another may be more windy where you can do some windsurfing.
And there is also a little island just offshore of Pedasi called Isla Iguana that, once you leave Pedasi and go across the ocean to the island you feel like you’ve reached another world and you’re like in the Caribbean. Isla Iguana has blue coral reefs where you can snorkel and dive. There are lots of iguanas running around all over the beaches. Isla Iguana is just pristine and beautiful.
I’m told that Pedasi is a birdwatcher’s paradise. I hear them all the time and see little pairs of beautiful and colorful flying by.

The best sightseeing in and around Pedasi would be Isla Iguana (pictured), especially during whale watching season. There’s no restaurant on Isla Iguana, and there are restrictions on what you can do because it is a preserve. You can, however, snorkel and scuba dive around the island. You could also see dolphins and turtles. You can also just relax in a beautiful setting of tranquil, blue turquoise water. It takes 20 minutes get to Isla Iguana from Arenal (the little port in Pedasi) by boat, so it is very close to Pedasi.
In addition to going to Isla Iguana, you can go horseback riding on the beach or along the river, scuba dive and snorkel. Those would have to be my favorite activities.
