There’s definitely surfing in Pedasi, as well as lots of body boarding or boogie boarding.
The serious surfers go to Venao, about 20 minutes further down the Azuero Peninsula. Playa Venao has world-class surfing, and many times, areas not only for the serious surfers, but areas with smaller waves as well. There’s a great cove there where you can find pretty much what you’re looking for.

The best place to surf in Pedasi is Playa Venao, which is where you can get a nice swell all year round. I’m told that the way that Playa Venao is shaped (like a half moon) causes the wind and the swells to make great waves for surfing. In 2012 and 2013, the International World Cup of Surfing took place in Playa Venao.

In Playa Arenal / El Toro Beach, which is where you take the boat to go to Isla Iguana, there is great kite surfing. It is so good that the national champion kite surfer of Israel lives now full time in Pedasi.

Playa Venao (30 minutes away by car) is famous for surfing in Pedasi. The more experienced and professional surfers go to there since they can catch bigger and longer waves in Playa Venao. Another popular surfing spot here is Lagarto Beach, which is just 5 minutes away from town. This is where teenagers and women usually learn how to surf. The waves in Lagarto are smaller, so it’s just appropriate for beginners. El Toro beach (5 minutes away by car) is also good for surfing.
