How's the kayaking in and around the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area and the rafting in and around the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area?

People are funny... and they find joyful hobbies everywhere they go. All you need is goodwill and happiness to enjoy every moment in life.

Pedasí, in the Azuero Peninsola, situated at 5 hours from the city of Panamá is a remarkable place to visit. If you don´t want to drive, there is always the option to transfer airplanes and arrive into Río Hato airport situated at 2.5 hours from the city. You might like to take a taxi (long way) or rent a car in the closest town (Penonomé).
Pedasí is visited by hundreds of tourists on a daily basis, and offers a variety of tours, including fishing, among others. It has a beautiful ocean view, and many hotels, resorts and restaurants for all budgets. If you are an outdoor adventurer, you will be glad to know that Pedasí has many rivers, beaches and waterfalls.
Water rafting, however, will be better in the province of Chiriquí, which has many excellent and fluent rivers for this purpose; same as in the city, especially at the Chagres river.
For scuba diving and snorkeling, Portobelo, near the city of Colón (in the Atlantic side, Caribbean Ocean), Gorgona / Coronado Beach, Punta Chame or Santa Catalina, in the province of Veraguas are the best options. In some of these places, you can enjoy the very famous Panamanian sea food, especially big red lobsters, at ridiculous low prices (except in the fancy restaurants). Most of all, you can enjoy the very Panamanian Corvina . Many of these towns are small local fishing centers, and fish is very fresh.

There is some kayaking in Pedasi proper, but much more in Canas, about 20 to 30 minutes away, where they have lots of channels and rivers.
Kayaking in Canas is amazing because they have beautiful rivers going straight through the mangroves where you can see all types of wildlife. There are monkeys and birds and alligators, and different fish. You can even see turtles and whales. There’s a lot to see down there. When you live in Pedasi, Canas is a...

We have sea kayaking as well.
There are several companies in town that can take you kayaking, diving and snorkeling.

You can go kayaking in the canal near Cañas Island in the Pacific Ocean, about 45 minutes away by car. It’s nice to go kayaking in this area because it is a very quiet place. You also go fishing in your kayak or just take the trip down the canal and enjoy nature. You’ll see monkeys and different birds, too.

Another place to go kayaking is in Arenal beach, which is only about 3-5 minutes away by car. The waves in Arenal are calm compared to other beaches so you can enjoy kayaking without being beaten by big waves.
There is another beach people go to for kayaking which is Playa Venao (30 minutes away by car). There is a huge wall of rocks in Playa Venal that slows down the waves from washing back towards the ocean so that during high tide it creates a natural pool which is good for kayaking.

In the Pedasi area, you can kayak from Venao Beach and see beautiful beaches around Venao and La Playita
Venao is 30 minutes from Pedasi. Playita is right before Venao and is slightly less than 30 minutes from Pedasi. Venao is a little surf bay. Once you get past the waves, it is calm. There’s a nice break there almost all year round where you can go surfing. Venao is world class and one of the best places in Panama for surfers. Playita is great for kayaking....

It’s calm because it’s protected. Playita has a little bay, like Venao, but there are no waves, so it is easier to kayak.
All beaches in Panama are public. Even people who have houses on the beach can actually have people put up a tent and camp in front of it, because the beach is public property.
