Do I need to own a car in the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area?

My answer would be yes, you do need to own a car in Pedasi, unless you are happy to wait for the local bus and not travel too much. There is so much to see surrounding Pedasi that I think having a car is well worthwhile. It really depends on the individual. A car gives you lots of opportunities to move around freely and visit spots that sometimes are not accessible any other way.

If you are looking forward to enjoying Pedasi and its surroundings, it is better that you have a car. Buses are not reliable after 4:00 p.m. and even then, they only go to certain places. With taxis, we have the same situation; they only work fully up to certain hours. However, if you are just visiting a couple of days and traveling from the city by plane (Panama Air), there is now a Thrifty car rental in Pedasi.

I do not own a car, but it would help a lot if you own a car in Pedasi. If you decide to go shopping at the bigger supermarkets outside of Pedasi, you can have more variety. You can drive to Las Tablas, which is half an hour away from Pedasi or Chitré (pictured), which is an hour away.
Another reason you would want a car is to drive to the beach, which is a couple of kilometers (maybe a mile or so) away. Some people walk or run or bike, but that is...

Some people walk or run or bike, but that is only if they are going around town. Everything is walkable. If you’re going outside of Pedasi, perhaps to Venao and Las Tablas, it is better that you have a car.
There are no sidewalks in Pedasi, compared to the other places in Panama. The streets and roads are for everybody, including animals, people and vehicles.
