How are the restaurants in the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area?

The food in the restaurants in Pedasi, Azuero Peninsula Panama area is mostly very good. Since the area is touristical, restaurants make efforts to meet western standards. I had one of the best experiences at El Sitio, Playa Venao. Located half an hour from Pedasi, this amazing beach front resort prides itself with an high quality cuisine. The chef mixes international and Panamanian food with talent. I never got disappointed!

There are many international type restaurants with excellent cuisine, very high standards, and a lot of seafood which suits an area like Pedasi and vicinity since fishing activities abound. I really always enjoy the Chinese Restaurant (Chino) at the Parque with great portions and inexpensive. Pizza and great international bakeries are to be found also. So are local foods like rice and beans with meat or fish. All in all a great culinary experience.

There are many restaurants in Pedasi, ranging in type and prices. Smileys is one of the expat hangouts serving hamburgers to BBQ ribs to shrimp. They have live music every Tuesday and Friday night.
There are several "fondas", restaurants at homes that serve "tipico" Panamanian food, where the prices range from $2-$7 a meal.

Of the 3 Italian restaurants, Pasta e Vino is my favorite; Danillo and his wife are very friendly.
There are also two pizza restaurants, one towards the Playa Toro with a wood-fire oven. La Huerta serves fresh produce from its garden located next to the dining area.
Tortuga Lodge serves Mexican Food and Saturday nights are "Dance Night."
There are many other good choices. Even a little cafe near the health center serves great sandwiches for $2 and desserts for 50 cents. I am sure you can find your favorite cuisine here in Pedasi.

The restaurants in Pedasi are great and very varied. We have four Italian restaurants. There are a few pizzerias. There is a Mediterranean restaurant that serves Israeli food, and there’s an American diner.
There are Panamanian style restaurants. We call Panamanian restaurants “fondas.” You get a buffet of what they are serving that day. It could be a choice between fish or chicken and lots of sides, like rice, beans, and vegetables, and will cost around...

There are Panamanian style restaurants. We call Panamanian restaurants “fondas.” You get a buffet of what they are serving that day. It could be a choice between fish or chicken and lots of sides, like rice, beans, and vegetables, and will cost around US $3 to $4. Other Panamanian restaurants serve tacos or tortillas or escabeche at reasonable prices, between $2 to $4.
There is a new vegan restaurant that just opened recently called Alma Verde. Everything on the menu is served gluten-free and sugar-free. There are healthy shakes, wraps and salads and healthy food that also has natural and organic ingredients that’s very appealing to expats. The vegan restaurant is one of a kind here in Pedasi.
Then there is Bienvenidush, which is a Mediterranean style restaurant that serves Israeli dishes, hummus, labane (it is like a cheese), falafel, also some wraps. It also has a great wine and cheese list popular with expats. The food is amazing. It is handmade by an Israeli girl named Galy. She makes the hummus, cheese, falafel and everything from scratch.

An Italian restaurant here in Pedasi is called Pasta y Vino, which is owned by a couple named Danilo and Elena. There are a few small tables and they serve homemade pasta and great wine. Then there is a bigger restaurant that serves Italian food and wine. The prices are fair.
Smiley’s is an American style restaurant. They have live music on Tuesdays and Fridays. It’s a very big sports bar. They serve American food such as hamburgers, ribs, and fresh fish. The food is good and fairly priced. Expats go there to listen to live music, dance and have a drink. It’s always busy and full. It is owned by John, who also plays the synthesizer.

Even though Pedasi is a small town, they do have very, very good restaurants because of the tourism and because of the expats that live there. Here's a sample:

- There is also a place in Pedasi that sells organic food where they plant the produce and all the ingredients that they use in their food.
- We have Bienvenidush, which is a restaurant owned by an Israeli lady that has Israeli dishes and where you can enjoy a nice falafel. What I tried is the shakshuka (pictured), which is a breakfast dish made of egg, vegetables, tomatoes, etc. It’s very nice as well.
- There is also place called Pedasito, which is a boutique hotel that also has a restaurant and their chef is really good. They have lots of different dishes.
- We also have the typical foods of Pedasi, which are served in the little restaurants owned by the locals and where you can try the national foods as well.
We have all kinds of food in Pedasi because there is a lot of foreign people living here.
