Who are the residents of the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area? Who lives in Pedasi, Azuero, Panama?
Bill Hamilton - Bill Hamilton
The people in Pedasi are really the same as most Panamanians. They are friendly and easy-going, surviving mostly on agriculture and fishing. They also provide a boat service to Isla Iguana and some are builders, too. The mini markets are run mostly by Chinese. Brush up on your Spanish as you will not find many who speak English.

Most of the people who live in Pedasi are locals who were born there and have been there for their whole lives. Most of them are older people. I did not see a lot of kids when I went to Pedasi. There is only one public school in Pedasi and there is another one in Las Tablas, which is 30 minutes away from Pedasi by car. There is a private school in Venao, which is also 30 minutes away from Pedasi by car.

The expats and the people who were not originally from Pedasi live closer to the beach, unlike the locals who live closer or in the center of town. There are a lot of gated communities with big houses and lots of mansions in Pedasi. There is actually a French community in Pedasi and this development was designed by a Frenchman. A lot of rich people live there, even the prince of Liechtenstein lives in Pedasi.

The residents of Pedasi are a mix of Panamanians and expats from many different countries. Many Panamanian families, old and young, with and without children, live in town and surrounding areas. Expats from Canada, United States, Australia, Ireland, Italy, Israel, etc., live throughout, in town among the "locals", in nearby towns, and some in the gated beach developments. Most everyone is very friendly; just walk down the street and you will be greeted by almost everyone with a smile and "hola" or "bueno", no matter the economic status or nationality. This quaint little town with all its welcoming charm is what drew us to live in town as permanent and contributing residents.
