What's it like to live in the Pedasi, Azuero, Panama area?

Pedasi is at the moment a pleasant place to live. There are restaurants in the village and small stores where you can buy essential goods. For a larger shop then Las Tablas or Chitre has the larger supermarkets. Pedasi is expanding and there are more and more ex-pats moving there with new houses being built. The village is small and the climate one of the driest in Panama. Excellent beaches too. Entertainment-wise there is not an awful lot to do but if you like the quiet life and...

Now I’m working a lot, so I’ll give you an answer of how it was to live in Pedasi before I was working so much. A typical day in Pedasi would include trying to catch “the veggie truck” in the morning so I could get our fresh food, making smoothies, a walk on the beach, and taking a yoga class in the afternoon a couple days a week. Maybe later I could catch up with local friends at Smiley’s (a local restaurant where expats gather).

Other things you could do include possibly taking up a new sport or hobby.

There are so many sports available here in Pedasi like stand-up boarding, body boarding and fishing, so you can stay very active while living here. You could also ride your bicycle or just experience the wildlife while sitting on your front porch listening to different birds. It’s just a beautiful place to be.

The geographical location of Pedasi is the best because it’s a town around the coast with beautiful virgin beaches. There are no big developments on the beaches so there are a lot of places where you can enjoy and at the same time have some privacy.
What’s even more beautiful here are the people. The people of Pedasi are friendly and are very respectful.

It’s nice to live here because it’s nothing like a big city. You will not experience a traffic jam here. You can have everything necessary to live a nice life. There is a hospital and other emergency services. There are nice schools, stores or nice supermarkets to shop in. There are also plenty of different restaurants here. You can also fish, dive, snorkel, go whale watching, or see monkeys or horses. There are a lot of different activities that you can do.
Another nice thing about Pedasi is that it is very rich in Panamanian culture. The people in Pedasi still follow old traditions especially in celebrating the festivals at different times of the year.
Pedasi is a great place to go to. The mix of these things together is what makes Pedasi a safe, comfortable and fun place to live in. It’s a nice place for retirement, too. If you want to have fun, there are casinos and a discotheque in Las Tablas, which is about 30 minutes away by bus from Pedasi. Chitre has casinos too and it’s about 45 minutes away.

What it's like to live in Pedasi depends on whether you are a local or an expat.
Most of the local people who live in Pedasi are fishermen, so they go out fishing most of the day and come home after. Some people go to bars and kids go to school, while the wives stay at home doing all the house chores. That is the typical day here in Pedasi, so it is very traditional. The locals generally are either fishermen or construction workers.

The expats here in Pedasi do a lot of gardening. They also like shopping. They go to Las Tablas or Chitre (the closest larger cities, about 40 minutes and an hour away, respectively) and shop a lot. Overall, Pedasi is a very tranquil place for expats.
