If someone likes to play golf, there are four golf courses in the Panama City area, about 15 to 45 minutes to get to any of them without counting a heavy traffic jam that may occur.

- The newest and closest one is Santa Maria Country & Golf Club; one of the best golf courses in Panama City regarding the condition of the green and the fairway.
- In Cerro Viento there is the oldest golf course in Panama City, Club de Golf, which has hosted the PGA Tour for the last few years.
- Summit Golf Course is close to the Gamboa Rain Forest, a bit hilly and narrow on the fairway.
- The last one is the Tucan Golf Course, located right after the American Bridge.
All of these golf courses in the city of Panama have their own special features, different layouts and attractions to challenge golfers.

At an equal distance to Santa Maria from downtown Panama City is Tucan Country Club, which used to be called Horoco, which stood for Howard, Rodman, and Cocoli. It used to be three army bases. They combined the names to call it Horoco and now it’s called Tucan Country Club. It’s right next to Panama Pacifico. Tucan has a high end golf course as well.
You also have the Summit Golf in Gamboa, which is about a 35-minute drive from Panama City past the bridge, very close to the Panama Canal. Summit is a mid- tto high-end golf course in the middle of a jungle.
There is also Club de Golf, which is about a 45-minute drive going east of Panama City. You need a membership to play there. It’s exclusive and that is where the majority of the businessmen go to play golf.
Coronado also has a golf course, which is about an hour away from Panama City going west. It’s probably one of the oldest golf courses here in Panama and it was designed by one of the world’s best golf course designers but not a lot of people go there anymore.
There is also a golf course in Buenaventura. It was also designed by a world famous golf course designer. They had part of the PGA Tour pass through Buenaventura before (the lower ones and not the ones where Tiger Woods plays). It’s a very good golf course. There is a hotel, a clubhouse, and it’s a very high end golf course as well.
There’s absolutely no shortage of golf clubs in Panama.
