When considering retirement in Marbella, there are two issues: retirement in Marbella, which is a neighborhood inside the city of Panamá; or retirement in the Republic of Panamá in any of its 9 provinces.
 
Let´s start with Marbella.  Obviously, as a neighborhood right in the middle of the banking area of the city of Panamá, Marbella is quite noisy, but still very attractive.  The high-rise buildings in Marbella have a beautiful view to Panamá Bay, and is very centrally located.  Marbella is surrounded by innumerable restaurants, offices, and is very close to the malls and other parts of the city, including the marvelous "Cinta Costera", which is a beautiful boulevard by the bay.  But Marbella itself is a small neighborhood, mainly consisting of buildings.
 
Now, let´s take Panamá as a country.  First, we have the city of Panamá, a very cosmopolitan city with visitors from all over the world.  The Panamá Canal, one of the Eight Wonders of the World is a tourist site that nobody should miss.
 
In Panamá, you can find everything and anything, with singular low prices and attractions for all budgets, ages and tastes.
 
As Panamá has a remarkable good weather all year round.  With only sunshine and rain, it makes a lot easier to enjoy everything Panamá has to offer, from mountains, to beaches, to city life.
 
And you can dress comfortably, as you wish.  Even though Panamá, as any Latin American country, has a strict dress code, mainly in the city, visitors always find a way to be comfortable, and at the same time, comply with those requirements, because Panamanians are very accommodating.  If you bring nice attire in addition to shorts and jeans, you will be fine. And, of course, don´t forget a hat.  Panamá is very warm, especially from December to May.  But, yet, in those months, there is the nicest breeze to be in a hammock.  Don´t bring winter clothes.... they will only stay in your luggage.
 
And.... thinking in retirement in Panamá?  Don´t think it twice.  Panamá is the best choice.  Thousands of retirees from different countries live happily here, taking advantage of the retiree discounts in restaurants, movies, airline tickets and more (with approved resident visa); eating fresh vegetables and  seasonal fruits from the backyard to the table, or getting them at the nearest selling point.
 
Don´t like warm weather...or the beach?  No problema!  There are beautiful picturesque places to choose from, with hills and mountains, including Boquete, Altos de María, Cerro Campana, Cerro Azul, among others.  Chiriquí is a beautiful province in which to live, because it has it all, from rivers to mountains, to water rafting to scuba diving.
 
The central provinces are also beautiful, with lots of culture and folklore; places like Pedasí, Las Tablas, Penonomé, Chitré, Chame, Gorgona and Coronado.  All of them very different from each other, and each with their unique attractions.
 
There are yet other places to explore: the provinces of Colón or Bocas del Toro, with a beautiful coast, beaches and isles. And talking about isles...the Islands of Taboga, Isla Grande and Contadora are also some options.
 
One thing, though, whatever is you decide, always keep in mind that your best option is to visit the country several times, and personally explore every detail.  That will be your very best indication that this place is right for you.
