How are Americans in the Panama City, Panama area of Marbella treated? How are expats in the Panama City, Panama area of Marbella treated generally?
Lourdes Townshend
Panamanians are warm people, and welcome everyone who wants to enjoy the country. And not only from the American Continent, but from the rest of the world as well.
There are thousands retiring in Panamá from the United States, Canada, Colombia and Venezuela, as the main communities. All of them are seeking a better quality of life, others a nice challenge for a change in their daily routine, or simply just for work or fun.

I only hear good things from expats, describing how happy they are in Panamá, and the many things they enjoy in their daily life, either in the city (Panama) or the "interior", as long as they behave and follow the rules and laws as guests.
Expats with pensionado visas enjoy the same privileges as locals, as retirees. They love this new concept of having a 25% discount on every airline ticket, restaurant meal, medical service, prescription, movie and many other purchases in their daily life, and a special line ( even if they are 100 people) in every public office. You do not see that often in any other country. In addition, Panama provides a courtesy complete emergency medical plan for visitors for 30 days. Most probably, citizens from the North American continent, or any other part of the world living in Panama feel like royals, not only in Marbella, but in any little piece of Panama, which welcomes all of them on a daily basis.

In Marbella, Americans and other expats are treated the same as any Panamanian, perhaps better. The reason why you might be treated better is that when the Panamanians in high end areas like Marbella and Punta Pacifica see a foreigner who has come from another country to live in Panama, they believe you might have a lot of money, so they see you as royalty.
In Panama in general and in Marbella specifically, there isn’t any resentment towards Americans or other...

Expats in Marbella, Panama are as treated the same way locals are treated. Panamanians try to speak English when they meet expats. Most of the people here in Marbella are well-educated and they speak English fluently.
There have been expats in Panama for a very long time so it is very common for locals to see them around and because of that, they are not treated differently. In fact, I have never gone out in a group that is composed solely of Panamanians....

In fact, I have never gone out in a group that is composed solely of Panamanians. There are so many foreign people in Panama that it is normal to have multicultural groups 100% of the time.
