Yes, there are lakes around Fort Clayton, which is just outside of Panama City, Panama! Actually the Panama Canal Zone is home to one of the most famous lakes in Panamanian history. I am of course talking about Lake Gatun, which at the time of its creation was the largest artificial lake in the world. Today it is a very important part of the Panama Canal. Along with the Chagres Cut, Lake Gatun encompasses 70% of the Canal's passageway.
