Yes, there are lakes around Fort Clayton, which is just outside of Panama City, Panama! Actually the Panama Canal Zone is home to one of the most famous lakes in Panamanian history. I am of course talking about Lake Gatun, which at the time of its creation was the largest artificial lake in the world. Today it is a very important part of the Panama Canal. The lake is home to some of the most impressive animals and flora that Panama has to offer. Most people come to Panama and they only visit the Canal... If you are in the Panama Canal Zone, I suggest that you come and LIVE IT!
