Are there natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, fire or hurricanes in the Panama City, Panama suburb of Fort Clayton / Clayton?
Carlos Garcia de Paredes, MD - Hospital Santa Fe
I have lived in Panama most of my life and have never experienced any natural disasters such as flooding, earthquakes, or hurricanes in Clayton. In the dry season there are some grass fires which almost never produce damage to inhabited areas.
Within Panama in general, there is some flooding associated with heavy rains which occurs in lower income areas built next to rivers, but not in Clayton.

Anne-Michelle Wand - United Country Bocas del Toro
There are no hurricanes anywhere here in Panama. Everything is so wet and damp all the time even on the dry season so fire is not an issue. In the countryside, they are burning grass in the pastures but it just burns itself and it does not go uncontrolled because everything is too wet. There are is no flooding in Clayton either because there are no rivers that go through Clayton. There are streams and ponds but there is no flooding in Clayton.

We do have earthquakes. Some real estate sites will tell you that there are no earthquakes in Panama, but that is not true. We do have earthquakes, but they are not major ones. We experience little tremblers about 3 to 6 times a year. Once in a while these earthquakes are strong enough to make plates fall off a wall, but they don’t do major damages to buildings.
