What's the overall cost of living in the Panama City, Panama suburb of Fort Clayton / Clayton?

Still not quite developed, Clayton offers a good alternative for those who are seeking a quiet, relaxing and upper income neighborhood.
Housing costs vary depending on the structure, but rents could go around $1,800 for an apartment $3,000 and up for a house, with the cost to purchase a home around $250,000. On line offers a variety of alternatives.
In addition, the cost of utilities, insurance, medical expenses, gasoline, and groceries has to be added, depending on your budget. If you only live on Social Security is difficult to seek living in this area; better to look at other areas as nice as Clayton, but little better in price. Still, you enjoy living in Panamá City.

The overall cost of living in Clayton is expensive. A house generally costs around US $4,000 per month to rent. It is not cheap.
The thing about Clayton and living is that the City of Knowledge is based there. The City of Knowledge has a consortium of NGOs (non governmental organizations) like the World Food Program, Red Cross, United Nations, etc., which increases the rent because a lot of the homes are owned by the these NGOs and rented out...

The thing about Clayton and living is that the City of Knowledge is based there. The City of Knowledge has a consortium of NGOs (non governmental organizations) like the World Food Program, Red Cross, United Nations, etc., which increases the rent because a lot of the homes are owned by the these NGOs and rented out only to people who work for one of those NGOs. Many people who work in those NGOs come here with a housing allowance. The embassy or the NGO gives them a huge allowance. The money does not come out of their pockets, so they do not care how much they pay for housing, which drives the prices quite high. The US embassy is there, too. For those people who do not have those accounts, it makes it very difficult when you have a working class salary.
The other expenses in addition to housing are the same as anywhere else in Panama City. Gas is the same. There is not really any grocery shopping in Clayton. They have a tiny supermarket, but there are no big ones. Electricity and water is not based on income or region. It is just the price that it is throughout the entire country.
