How long will I have to wait for a doctor's appointment in El Valle de Anton, Panama?

Anton Valley (El Valle de Anton) has a health center which has nursing, dentistry, general medicine and a childbirth room for those who are not at high risk and for the local population. But people from other countries like the USA and Canada do not go to this health center because it takes too much time to get an appointment and this center does not have all the specialists that these patients may require. If you need these specialists, you will need to travel to Coronado (about 30 minutes away by car) or to Panama City (about an hour and a half away).

Clinics in El Valle de Anton are on a first come, first serve basis. If there’s a long line, you have to wait until everybody else in front of you gets their turn. If you have an emergency, like chest pains, then they’ll move you to the front. If not, you will have to wait. The clinics in El Valle are the Social Security, publicly run clinics because there are no private clinics in El Valle, proper. We’re hoping to get one, but it doesn’t look like...

A few expats have gone to the Social Security publicly run clinics when they’ve been sick or had cuts, and the doctors have attended to them right away. They do good service there. Nobody has really complained about it.
If you are an expat and you are in El Valle and you need to see a doctor because you don’t feel good, you can drive down to Coronado and go to the Coronado San Fernando Clinic, which is a little more than half an hour away by car, right down the hill. That’s where you will get pampered and it’s a first rate private clinic with an MRI and machines. If you have insurance, the co-pay is US 20, and that’s it.
