Is there good fishing in and around Coronado, Panama?

Coronado, Panama is not known for being a good fishing spot because there are so many other great fishing spots in Panama. However, if you do fish in Coronado,I´m sure you can take something out from the sea :)

There is great fishing in the Coronado, Panama area, right off the coast. Similar to the Atlantic coast of the US, there’s also great fishing about 20 miles or so offshore, where you can get to the deep water to catch fish such as tuna and marlin.
In Coronado, Panama, you can do beach fishing, surf fishing, and there’s quite a bit of bottom fishing off all the reefs we have around. I haven’t seen a lot of fishing in the rivers in general, except...

I don't practice sport fishing, but in order to get you a good answer for this question I consulted with experts and amateur fishermen. Both told me that fishing in Coronado, Panama is not recommended. First, there are many stones. Second, many swirls are formed in the sea.
They recommended to boat out to sea and go along the coast or to fish in a river. One of the experienced fishermen suggested going to the La Arenosa area, located in La Chorrera on Lake Gatun (about...

One of the experienced fishermen suggested going to the La Arenosa area, located in La Chorrera on Lake Gatun (about 90 minutes by car from Coronado, near Panama City), where fishing is a very popular and is easy enough even for children.

There are a lot of fishermen in the Coronado area but these fish are consumed locally; they are not doing commercial fishing. People who live in the beach areas go to the beach and go fishing so they could have something to eat and sell to their neighbors. What I heard from people in Coronado is that because of the climate change, they could fish as much as they used to because the fish are now farther out into the ocean.

Coronado is not known for sport fishing. People who go sport fishing, usually go to the Darien Province or to Pedasi, which is 4.5 hours away by car from Panama City and about 3.5 hours away from Coronado. Pedasi is a bit far from Panama City as it is located in the Azuero Peninsula. They have lots of fishing and sport fishing in Pedasi.
