Are there natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, fire or hurricanes in Coronado, Panama?

The reason why we chose Panama over any other southern destination in the world is due to the absence of natural disasters. There are no hurricanes and no tornadoes. The earthquakes that are felt are from neighboring countries which have only been felt twice in the 5 years I have lived in Coronado. The rainy season does offer up a lot of rain and there is some flooding in the city due to volume but out in the Coronado area floods are non existent. As for fires,...

As for fires, the nice thing is if there is a fire 99% of the homes are built of concrete. Your home will not burn down unless there is an explosion and that of course is not a natural disaster. :)

There are no hurricanes or tornados in Panama at all, which would be even less likely at the Pacific shore, where Coronado is located. Also when it rains in Coronado, it doesn't take too long to see the sun shining again just a half an hour later. As a result, there is not much chance of flooding in Coronado for any reason.

There has been no natural disaster in Coronado, Panama for the past 20 years. There are the normal floods when it rains hard, but these do not damage the Coronado area. We are sort of blessed. We do not have earthquakes. These occur more in the Chiriquí area, closer to Costa Rica, and not in the actual city. There’s not much earthquake or flooding in the surrounding areas.

There also aren’t any hurricanes here. There are two reasons for that. First, we are on the Pacific side and not the Atlantic side. Second, we are far too south, so there are zero hurricanes.
Brush fires, like those in California, are very rare here. I don’t recall any big damage from fire. Sometimes when it’s really hot, you get those little fires because the sun is just too hot and the grass is too dry. It is nothing big or major.
Most people do not have flood, earthquake, hurricane or fire insurance. We always advise them to have that, just to be careful and cautious, but it is not required. We are simply lucky that we do not have disasters like those.

There are no hurricanes in Coronado, Panama, but I have experienced one weak earthquake in 8 years. It was just a tremble. It was a little tiny shake, which I have never experienced in my life. I was concerned but that was it. I was building my house at that time and I checked for cracks but there were none.
We do get a lot of rain in Coronado. If it rains heavily, sometimes you would see some flash flooding on the roads, but it is nothing to worry about like we used to worry...

We do not worry about fire here in Coronado, either. We have fires during the dry season but those are fires that were set and controlled. We don’t experience brush fires like in California.
There are almost no natural disasters here, which is one of the reasons why home insurance is not necessary in Coronado. I am uninsured. It is just one of those bills that I don’t want.
The problem is that we were brought up in the Western World that we need insurance. It was actually bred into us. If you could get out of that mentality, or just ask somebody to add up all the insurance premiums they’ve paid in their life (I did this) and then see what you got reimbursed for from claims, the tradeoff is horrible.

From my understanding there are really no natural disasters here in Coronado, Panama, and there has never been any real natural disaster here in Coronado, and very few in the whole country of Panama. There have been some earthquakes in far away areas of Panama that have not affected the area of Panama City, the airport, or Coronado.
There is no flooding in Coronado either; none that I am aware of and none that I have experienced since I have been...

There is no flooding in Coronado either; none that I am aware of and none that I have experienced since I have been here. There were times when there had been dry spells, but those are being addressed all the time by putting in more and more wells in the area. As far as I am aware, there have not been any brush fires in Coronado, either.
