What's it like to drive in Coronado, Panama?
Itzel Bultron - Activentas, S.A.
Driving in Coronado, Panama is very easy, with very nice roads ease of getting around. Driving in Coronado is like driving in Miami or Orlando, with clearly marked, easy to understand signs and easy access to shops and restaurants. Also, it's not conjested. The only heavy traffic we get is at weekends and holidays.

The roads in Coronado, Panama have some potholes and I admit, the roads are not that great. It is not up to the government to pave the roads in Coronado. Rather, it is mostly up to the communities to pave the roads, so you can see some roads that are paved and some are not. An SUV is recommended for driving around Coronado.

The streets in Coronado, Panama are not like the streets in Panama City. Driving in Panama City is not for the faint of heart, while driving in Coronado is quite easy. Some of the roads, themselves, in Coronado could be maintained better.

Driving in Coronado, Panama is usually very quiet. Coronado does not get much traffic, except during the major holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Carnival and Independence week. Traffic gets a bit heavier around the entrance to Coronado, and on weekends it can take a few extra minutes to get past the retail areas and onto the highway. Lately, the left turn onto the highway has been closed, so people go right and then make a U turn.

Most of the roads in Coronado are filled with potholes and are uneven; some are gravel, and water erosion has occurred during rainy season. Punta Prieta, the road to the Coronado Hotel, has been recently paved and is very nicely done. If you drive slowly, even the bumpy roads can be navigated safely.

Diving in Coronado, Panama is normal. If you have your own car, you can get around almost anywhere within Coronado very quickly, perhaps in 5 minutes.
You have to familiarize yourself with the streets because you might be confused at the beginning. However, the streets are well marked so you can locate them easily.
The drivers in Coronado are calmer than the drivers in Panama City. People in Coronado are more relaxed....

Driving in Coronado, Panama, is just like driving anywhere. The Pan-American Highway is just like an American highway. Once you turn into Coronado, the roads are not that great but they are not unpassable or terrible, either. The reason behind some of the roads in Coronado not being that great is because the government does not maintain them. Coronado is a community so they the community is responsible for their road. The roads in some areas are dirt roads and some are paved.

In some areas, the Homeowners’ Association pitched in and raised the funds to pave their stretch of earth and that is why some roads in Coronado are paved and some are not. But overall, it’s not dangerous to drive in Coronado. It’s not like driving inside Panama City. We don’t have any issues or concerns. It’s very safe to drive in Coronado, it’s very easy to get around, and you don’t have to be a very aggressive driver, unlike when you drive in Panama City.
