Is there good bus service in Coronado, Panama?

Coronado lies on the Interamerican Highway with frequent bus service to cities in the interior. All busses stop at the main junction leading to Coronado and on normal days you will find it quite easy to catch a bus to Panama City which is an hour away on a long distance bus. If you catch a "Coaster" - a local bus for some 20 passengers, you will find your journey somewhat slower as they make frequent stops.

To get from the bus stop on the main road to the hotel and commercial center of Coronado itself you can take one of the many taxis that are waiting at the commercial shopping centers next to the bus stop.

Arrinving to Coronado is easy. all buses driving from Panama to the west of the country pass through Coronado.
Internal buses in Coronado are constantly through out the day, 35 cents to get inside the properties.

I had the same question about the bus service in Coronado, so one day I took a bus from Gran Terminal de Albrook (the bus station in Albrook, in Panama City) to Coronado. I got the counter of San Carlos. The ticket cost US $4.65 (April 2014). Not to far from the counter, I found the "coaster" which usually waits around 15 to 20 minutes for passengers before leaving the station.

The bus was very clean, with air conditioning and cozy seats. The bus took around 2 hours to arrive at Coronado. It made many stops through the way. As the bus stopped it was overflowing with people, which was the only thing that made me feel uncomfortable.
Finally, the bus stopped at Coronado Mall. If you don't know where things are located, don't hesitate to ask to the bus drivers to notify you when the bus has gotten to where you want to be let off. They are always willing to help!
Enjoy your trip!

The local buses in Coronado, Panama can take a while to get where you want to go, maybe an hour or two to pass. The bus service is more for the locals and workers to get out of or or inside Coronado than it is for foreigners or expats, who generally don’t take the bus.

However, if you want to take what we call "the coaster" or one of the big buses with air conditioning, you can take the one that picks up from the entrance of Coronado and goes to Panama City. That would be safe, reasonable and quick, like an hour or so. It is cheaper (at about US $3) than taking a taxi or driving.

There is bus service within Coronado, Panama but it is not typically something that the expats in Coronado utilize. The bus service within Coronado itself is more used by local people for going to work.
There are buses that go from Coronado to Panama City and vice versa but it is also primarily used by locals. I don’t personally know any expat who uses the bus services here.
