How much does it cost for a gardener in Coronado, Panama?
Elizabeth Vance - The Gringo Guide To Panama: What To Know Before You Go
Gardeners are about the same as a maid in the Coronado area. If the gardener you hire is full-time, expect to pay $300 or more a month, and have them live on your property. If you only need someone by the day, or a couple of days per week, you can expect to pay $25 a day for an average size lot. Naturally if you have a really large property, your cost for a gardener in Coronado and the nearby beach area will go up from there.

The gardeners in Coronado, Panama are very affordable. They may charge anywhere between $20-$40 depending how big your yard is and how much work you ask for them to do. In my experience they are usually trustworthy and they are willing to help in many different tasks.

Labor in Coronado, Panama, is very inexpensive. Usually a gardener will charge about US $20 for a full day.
Because many people don’t have enough work for a full time gardener but would like to have their garden looked after on a frequent basis, they will have a gardener who comes for a few hours a day several days in a week. On whatever frequency they pay the gardener, it comes out to the $20 per eight-hour day, or about $2.50 per hour.

In Coronado, Panama a gardener costs between US $100 and $200 per month. If you have a larger property and you want to delegate more things, you can pay a gardener $200 per month but that is the maximum. Most people have gardeners come over 2 or 3 times a week and the average cost for their services is $130 to $150 per month. The higher cost is if you have a garden and a pool.

A lot of people find that they really only need a part-time gardener, as opposed to full-time.
Let’s say you’re buying a really big home with a guest quarters and 1,200 square meters of land (more than a quarter of an acre) and a pool and fruit trees and all that. In this case, you may have the caretaker’s cottage on that property and when you buy the property the caretaker may come with it. In this case, you’re often going to be paying about...

In this case, you’re often going to be paying about $500 a month for that caretaker as a full-time person. Often times the caretaker may be married and have a wife who is a housekeeper as well and you may pay $700 for the whole family to take care of your property. There are stories out there of those people being paid $400, which could be possible, but that number has changed.
Most of the expat community finds that they want to take advantage of having a caretaker come in and just work for a day or they’ll share that caretaker with their neighbor. In this case, that daily rate can go from $20 to $30 a day. For this, the caretaker will trim the grass and water the plants. Lots of things grow fast in Panama so they have to cut a lot of tree limbs.

The cost to get a gardener in Coronado depends on the tasks that need to be done and the size of your garden. I know gardeners who charge US $20 a day for the job, in general. That price could go up to $35 or even $50, depending on the size of the land that you have for the job.
There is no defined table of rates that gardeners charge you for a job. You could negotiate the price with the person. It’s very open. There are gardeners who use special equipment so they charge...

In general, when you need someone to do technical jobs (painters, carpenters, builders, etc.) for you, you pay them weekly. Everything is negotiable here. As an example, we have a lady who cleans our office and the social area and we pay her $20. It doesn’t matter if it takes her 30 minutes or 24 hours to do the job; we pay her $20 a day.

We have been paying our gardener in the Coronado area of Panama $20 for a half day for the last four years. We really don't need one full time.
We recently lost a number of our ficus trees and he and his associate worked all day to clear the dead trees and do some extra work for me. Two men for an entire day cost $80 which included $40 for hauling away the dead wood (4 loads).
