How long will I have to wait for a doctor's appointment in Coronado, Panama?

These medical questions are great ones. I will be in Panama in early May and I will make it a point to stop by Coronado and get some answers. I know that when I learned that there would be a medical facility in Coronado supported by one of the major hospitals in Panama I was very pleased. A couple of times during tours to Panama, while staying at Coronado we had to have a doctor come to the Coronado Hotel. Every week there are doctors coming to Hospital San Fernando Coronado, from all the specialties (cardiologist, urologist, dermatologist..etc) to treat their patients. Most likely you may need to call Hospital San Fernando Coronado front desk ahead of time to set up an appointment to see these doctors.

On the other hand, if you must see a doctor more quickly than that, Panama City is one hour drive away, and there you can find the desired attention because in Panama City there are doctors available in morning and afternoon times.
As I mentioned before, most of the doctors speak fluent English, and most of them have studied in Europe and US.

You will have to wait for a doctor's appointment in Panama approximately 10 minutes, depending on which clinic you go to. I actually went to the doctor today for an ear ache which turned out to be an infection of the middle ear canal and I literally waited 3 minutes, including filling out the paperwork as a first time patient.
This was a private clinic I visited with an efficient doctor that speaks English. The price of the consultation - $15 USD....

Now, I live in Coronado and it is a much more relaxed atmosphere here than in Panama City. In Panama City, I would have waited longer, at most 15 to 20 minutes in any private clinic or hospital as they are normally busier. But this is the reason I chose Coronado, because it still is close to the city and it has all amenities I need plus it is a way slower pace of life.

If you go to a public hospital in Coronado, Panama, you will have to wait. If you do not have a real emergency, it might take or two hours before you are assisted. There are a lot of people waiting for their turn.
In the private hospitals, such as San Fernando, it will be a lot quicker. You can be assisted within 30 minutes or so.

If you just walk into the doctor’s office in Coronado, you will wait anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. A doctor’s appointment at Dr. Nevy’s office, which is at a local medical clinic, costs $16. A specialist appointment is approximately $50 to $60. It would cost you around $60 to go to a cardiologist. A dermatologist costs about $50. If you walk into the San Fernando Clinic in Coronado, it would cost you $20.

If you kids have an ear infection, for example, you could just show up at the doctor’s clinic to get attended to. The same is true with colds, stitches, etc. You just wait for around 20 to 30 minutes and the doctor will see you.
