Absolutely, the doctors in Coronado are good. I have been to our San Fernando clinic for everything from a bad stomach virus to my yearly physical. My husband broke his toe and the surgeon had him scheduled for the same day and the quality of care was second to none. All of the Doctors are friendly and thorough and will not prescribe you with anything you don't need. They are also cost conscious and will not order tests or procedures that are not necessary as...

All of the Doctors are friendly and thorough and will not prescribe you with anything you don't need. They are also cost conscious and will not order tests or procedures that are not necessary as many of their clients like myself pay out of pocket as it is more cost efficient than the cost of insurance. I would recommend the health care in Panama to any North American expat. In a country where I can book my mammogram for the day and time that works for me and have my results emailed to me 3 days later, that is far more of a value to me than my health care that I pay heaps for through my taxes in Canada.

Coronado, Panamá. Medical care

Panamá has being traditionally known by a path through nations. Since the construction of the Panamá Canal, (one of the Eight Wonders of the World) inaugurated in 1914 , every
effort has been made to improve the quality in every aspect, for the benefit of their residents. At the construction, the area had to be decontaminated from mosquitos, some diseases and other things that should be done at that moment.
Because of that reason, some time later, the Gorgas Institute was inaugurated, and until these days, is a valuable center for investigation.
There is also "Barro Colorado", run by the Smithsonian Institute. Another scientific center where great things has been accomplished for the benefit of the humanity.
Above mentioned reasons, in combination with an extraordinary medical schools at the National University (state), and other private universities, where their graduates has an international level of education, and many, many of them continues abroad their secondary studies and special degrees, makes that Panamá is able to offer to their locals, visitors and resident foreigners a high quality of medical care, of course, bilingual, not only Enlgish and Spanish, but other languages as well.
Not to mention, that the government offer a courtesy 30 days complete medical care to their visitors. Just ask for your brochure at your arrival.
In Coronado, as well as other parts of the country, you always find health centers, clinics of all types, pharmacies, and hospitals in the main cities or towns, like Coronado, Chorrera, David, Isla Colón (Bocas del Toro), Colón, and of course, the city of Panamá that has excellent and modern hospitals of all kinds, even connected to major hospitals in the United States, like John Hopkins, Miami and Texas.
And the best part is that the prices are so competitive, that foreigners can´t believe it. Sometimes a medical clinic off visit is $15.00 (walk in) including lab, and other facilities.
Of course, you also find specialists that charges up to $150.00, depending on how complicated is the case. You also find hundreds of medical/SPAS with highly technology. The medical tourism is very popular in Panamá, due the excellence of the work, and the prices.
Main hospitals in Panamá are: Punta Pacífica, Paitilla, Santa Fé, San Fernando, Clínica Nacional, Clínica Bella Vista where you find complete hospitalization care. Others of lwer prices are: San Judas Tadeo, Río Abajo, and Santo Tomás (a state hospital, with one of the best trauma centers in the region).
Coronado has an emergency hospital at the entrance of Coronado, and locals and visitors enjoy their good service.

The doctors a very good in Coronado, Panama. Some of them speak perfect English and also take credit cards so you don't have to worry if you don’t have your medical insurance policy at that time. Prices for consults are very reasonable, as are the prices for lab tests and pharmacy.
Obviously if you have a very significant medical problem the doctors here in Coronado will refer you to a private hospital in Panama City, which is about 90 minutes away by car....

San Fernando Clinic, located in Coronado, Panama, offers many medical services at their facilities, as well as an ambulance, if necessary. My mother used the ambulance when she visited me for her required transport to Panama City for a fractured hip. San Fernando Clinic also provides many emergency services that are essential to a full-scale community. They are very professional and all speak English. There is a competitive dental clinic in the Coronado mall that has become very popular for good service, good to excellent dentists and costs that are fair to be sure. I think one can safely say that dental work here in Coronado, Panama is far less expensive than in the USA and the quality is as good

There are doctors in Coronado from the San Fernando Clinic (which is a private clinic) and from San Carlos Hospital, which is a public hospital.
The doctors in the San Fernando Clinic are very good; up to American standards. I say that as the result of my own personal experience and that of my husband and kids, as well as what I hear from expats. (There is one physician in particular—Dr. Levy—that all the expats speak of particularly highly.) In...

We don’t have as much experience with the doctors at the public hospital, San Carlos, but from what we’ve experienced and what we’ve been told, at any particular time, the care can be spotty.

Yes, the doctors in Coronado, Panama are good. We’re very fortunate. We have a state of the art health clinic that opened a few years ago that’s the branch of one of the main hospitals in Panama City and that has great doctors.

In the past several years since the infrastructure has been booming here and we’ve had so many expats moving to the area, we’ve had private clinics open up in the area. We have from dentists to ophthalmologists, to general practitioners and the clinics bring in their own specialists depending on the day of the week.
They’re English speaking, which is great for our non-Spanish speaking clients.
The doctors are great and the cost is much, much, much lower than that in North America; it’s probably about half, if not less than half. For example, I have a friend who fell down and hit her head on the floor here. I took her to one of the hospitals here in Coronado, San Carlos (a public clinic), to have an x-ray, which cost US $10. To see a doctor at the public clinic it’s usually about a dollar and if you go to a private clinic with your insurance it’s a $20 copay.
My personal experience and the experience of others who I’ve met in the area is that the quality here is much, much better than in North America. Why? Because you can call your doctor on a cellphone, you can WhatsApp him or her any time of the day or night, you can get an appointment the same day if you need to, and when you go see a doctor here there’s no rush – they sit with you, they talk to you about what’s been going on, they’ll bring in another doctor if you need to, but you don’t feel rushed. You don’t feel like you’re just another number.
The doctors here are very approachable. I had sinus surgery last year. I called my doctor at night, I would What’s Up him, and I would send him pictures afterwards. If I needed to get in for an emergency or I needed to see him the same day he would make time for me. The service of the medical industry here in Coronado is great and the doctors are fantastic.
A lot of the doctors here in Coronado are trained in the US. One of my doctors, a surgeon, was a Harvard medical grad. Most of them speak English, they’re very well-trained and very approachable. I think it’s great. The few times that I’ve had to go to the doctor here in Coronado was a really positive experience.
