How's the standard of living in Coronado, Panama?
Nicolas Baldrich - Coronado Golf & Beach Resort
Coronado has very good standards of living. Everything you need is in the commercial area at the entrance of Coronado. You can find supermarkets, restaurants, beauty salons, banks, office space to set up an office and many more commercial options.

Most of the Panamanians who have a house in Coronado also have a house in the city of Panama, making Coronado their weekend and holiday home. Most of the full time residents of Coronado live and work in the area, mainly thanks to the Coronado International School that opened August 2012, which gives people the liberty to be able to live year round in Coronado. Coronado does not have traffic jams, no pollution and everyone is very friendly.
Coronado also has a big population of expats, mainly from the United States most of them living under the pensionado which give them free health care and pensionado discounts.
Living in Coronado is much cheaper than living in Panama City, plus everything is closer and more convenient, with a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
You can play golf in the morning, have lunch in one of the many restaurants in the area, have a walk on the beach in the afternoon all within 5 km (about 3 miles).
Coronado is Vida meaning Coronado is life, everyone says that for a reason.

The standard of living in Coronado, Panama is set first by the Panama City residents who have weekend vacation homes in Coronado. The Coronado Golf and Beach Resort is at the center of a long history of catering to the well-to-do, and now the foreigners join them, but more as full-time or part-time members.
Coronado, Panama is a wealthy community, with most of the people not living here exclusively. Coronado is unique in this respect, in that it is a...

Coronado, Panama is a wealthy community, with most of the people not living here exclusively. Coronado is unique in this respect, in that it is a mixed social community, and everyone has many options in seeking their comfort level. But economically, Coronado has a high standard of living.

Coronado as a Lifestyle
From many years in the past, Panamá has been a transit area and a destination for many people; offering warm and open arms to whoever wanted to have the privilege of a better life and who would consider Panamá as an opportunity. This began as early as the 15th century, with the transit of Spaniards from South America to Spain, who brought gold and all the wealth that the continent had to offer back to Spain.

Then, the Panamá Canal construction was a fantastic time for thousands and thousands of foreigners who came to work and eventually established themselves in this small country, creating the different ethnic groups we have in Panamá today. This continued with the first hemispheric railroad and the "gold fever" in California, where people from all over were seeking "the" opportunity of their lives, and found a unique way to travel to that opportunity. In this way, Panamá was a great contributor, and still is today, offering a great path between the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, through the Panamá Canal, for the benefit of the whole world.
In every step through generations, from the 15th century through the pirates burning the old Panamá city, the construction of the new one known today as the "Casco Viejo", through all the magnificent mega projects like the new metro, the "cinta costera", the hundreds of multinational corporations established in this country (mainly in Panamá Pacífico and the Colón Free Zone, one of the largest in the world), these things and others make Panamá the #1 destination for thousands of people who want to come for visit, who seek better opportunities or who simply seek a relaxing retirement.
Panamá has many picturesque towns, villages and cities for all tastes, in which thousands of expats have found their ideal place to live, surrounded by beautiful nature, and offering outstanding weather, mountains and beaches. Among these areas is a place called Coronado that is specially attractive to visitors.
Coronado, Panama is an old town, situated about hour and a half from the city of Panamá. At the beginning, Coronado was only a place used as second beach homes for Panamanians. In the present, many foreigners have been attracted to Coronado, Panama because the many features around it, such as three modern malls, an emergency hospital, a beautiful hotel/resort, an amazing beach, restaurants everywhere, a nice expat community, a great equestrian international club, one of the oldest gulf clubs, all surrounded by so many towns like Chame, Gorgona, and San Carlos, that offer fresh fruits and vegetables in every corner at ridiculously low prices.
Coronado also offers you the opportunity to have your very own garden at home. Coronado is a very safe and relaxing place, with single family homes or condo buildings, at all different prices and one for everyone according to his or her needs. In addition, if you don't want to live inside Coronado proper, there are many areas surrounding, either mountain or beach. All you need is to come to visit and compare it by yourself.

The standard of living in Coronado is very relaxed. It is not difficult to live there. It is definitely not difficult to get along with the people who are living there because everybody is friendly and in a relaxed mood, so Coronado is a very nice place to live. Life is very easy-going in Coronado. It is actually where I would like to live when I retire. I just love the Pacific beach areas. It is more like a Caribbean type of living where everything is relaxed and easy-going.

The standard of living in Coronado is very good. Usually the average house, lot, or apartment in Coronado could go up to US $200,000 to $250,000 and up. The quality of living is great. There is a hospital there. There are five supermarkets, one casino, three hotels, and a golf course. So it is a good retirement community to live in.

To live in Coronado, you should have a fair amount of means. There are not really poor people in Coronado. The minimum monthly income in order to get by in Coronado, the bare minimum from an expat point of view since they are going to need some insurance and some medical needs that older retirees usually need, would be $2,500 per person or $3,500 for a couple. I wouldn’t move to Coronado if I had less than that.

The standard of living in Coronado, Panama is high from a lot of different perspectives. Coronado is primarily a vacation place for people from Panama City, but it has grown up to have all of the services that you would expect.
Living in Coronado full time as an expat is very comfortable. There are three or four large shopping centers in Coronado. There are golf courses, equestrian course, etc., so, for a beach town, the standard of living in Coronado is really...

The standard of living in Coronado, Panama is very good. Because you get so much for your money, you can eat at a local restaurant for US $3 or $4 and get a huge plate of local food consisting of rice, beans, and chicken or fish. You can buy the fresh fruit and produce for a very inexpensive price. You can get from the grocery store, the hardware store, to the doctor all within the same shopping complex.

You’re not spending a lot of money on gas. You’re not spending a lot of money on food unless you want to. You’re not spending a lot of money on utilities because the weather’s pretty good here most of the time. So really, all the things that you would normally spend your money on, you’re saving when you’re in Panama.
The lifestyle here in Coronado, Panama is, for most people, amazing. It’s very easy to make friends. There are so many social things going on every single day of the week. All you have to do is take a piece of paper and write down the top three things that you like to do and you’re going to find other people who like to do those things.
You like to mountain bike? Check. You like to play golf? Check. You like to dance? Check. You want to get involved with animal charities? Check.
If for some reason you like to do something that no one else has thought of and there’s not a group doing that, you start it, you tell your friends, and pretty soon you’ll have a new group that is making mittens out of dog hair.

A lot of people refer to Coronado, Panama as a North American bubble. You have homes and condos that are very similar to North America in terms of construction and what they offer.

The quality of life here is great. You have the beach, mountains, gated communities, security and safety, there’s even an equestrian club if you like horses, so there’s pretty much something for everyone.
