How many Americans, Canadians and other expats live in Coronado, Panama?

Until 7 years ago Coronado Panama was the beach vacation area for Panamanians. This was until expats from around the world saw Coronado as a retirement destination. Within the last 5 years the town of Coronado has not only increased exponentially in commerce but in population. The ratio of foreign expats from Monday to Friday is:
- 40% Canadian
- 30% Americans
- 30% Europeans including Eastern Europe

On the weekend the Panamanians from the city (Panama City) will come to enjoy the beach. At that point the ratio changes to 70% Panamanian to 30% Expats.

Canadians out-number Americans in Panama, and so, the same in Coronado, where Americans in turn out number Europeans. That being said, in Coronado, Panama, there are many Europeans, led by British, French and Germans, and then Italians, Swiss and Spanish...certainly a sprinkling of East Europeans and Russians.

That being said, in Coronado, Panama, there are many Europeans, led by British, French and Germans, and then Italians, Swiss and Spanish...certainly a sprinkling of East Europeans and Russians.
About half of the expats here are part-time residents, snowbirds predominantly, leaving the remaining residents to form a cohesive social unity that includes the rest when they are here. All are bound by the many year round events with online info provided by Playa Community and CASA, the Coronado Association.
There is always a bond between expats in general... and very few are actually expats....but have taken advantage of globalization and the opportunity to live abroad in locations like Coronado specifically, and Panama in general, that are so welcoming to all.

The number of expats in Coronado, Panama, is a number that varies day to day, but I would guess it is somewhere from 4,500 to 5,000. There are not so many local Panamanians in Coronado because it is a weekend-based community. So Coronado would be populated by probably 70% expats during the week and probably 30% expats on the weekends.

I would estimate about 3,000 or 4,000 expats in Coronado, which would be around 30% of the population. Most of the expats are North Americans. The other residents of Coronado are Panamanians, but there are very few South Americans, such as Venezuelans. About 5% of the population are Europeans. Coronado is more like an America or Canadian outpost.

The high season is from December to the end of April. People coming here could live here for one month or they could be here for four months. Because the population expands and contracts so much during May and June when a lot of the snowbirds go home, it’s going to be a smaller number. During the High Season, it’s going to be a much larger number. No one really has a good idea of the exact number of people because of that expansion and contraction. It’s a range. My estimate of the number of expats living in Coronado can be anywhere from 50,000 to several hundred thousand. About 50% of the people that live in Coronado are Americans, Canadians, or other expats.
