The nightlife in Casco Viejo (aka Casco Antiguo) is some of the most authentic in Panama City, Panama. We have ~ 30 bars, clubs, micro-breweries, cafes, and restaurants in Casco Viejo, a district in Panama City, Panama. Many, such as degusta, are among the top-rated on Trip Advisor in Panama City. In addition there are many festivals and special events held here--e.g. guitar and piano world festivals, jazz, typico performances, opera, dance, art exhibitions... The nightlife in Casco Viejo is fantastic. People love it and it is a very “in” place to go. There are bars on the ground floor; there are bars on the rooftops. There are also discotheques and restaurants. We also have live music and dancing. Casco Viejo has everything that people look for to enjoy themselves.

There are comedy clubs close by, but not in Casco Viejo. Most of the comedy clubs are in Panama City. The National Theater (above photo), which is over 100 years old, still holds plays, concerts, and other programs. Not too long ago, they did Jesus Christ Superstar and the composer from London, came for the opening here in Panama. Most of the plays were in Spanish.
There are lots of casinos in Panama City. The closest one to Casco Viejo is around 10 to 15 minutes away. Panama City is trying to be a "Little Las Vegas" and cater especially to Latin Americans who cannot get into the US. These people come over to Panama City for shopping, gambling, and to have fun.

There are a lot of restaurants in Casco Viejo. There are restaurants which are in buildings and there are restaurants in houses which have tables outside where they serve guests. If it is not raining, you can go to one of these outdoor restaurants and enjoy a meal while enjoying the view. Casco Viejo is comparable to Cartagena in Colombia. They have the same concept. Cartagena is also the oldest city, but the government keeps it that way. It is beautiful...

Cartagena is also the oldest city, but the government keeps it that way. It is beautiful with all the antique houses, the old details on the houses, and the different colors. Just like in Casco Viejo, people walk around Cartagena a lot, because there are not a lot of cars there either.
There are also nightclubs and a lot of hotels in Casco Viejo. So expats like staying there because it is beautiful and there is a nice view of Panama City from Casco Viejo. Usually, all the hotels have their own nightclubs.

There’s a little bit of entertainment and nightlife in Casco Viejo for everybody. There is a little bit of the artsy and electronica scene. There are restaurants, bars and theaters. If you want to see a movie, we have a restaurant that shows experimental movies on Tuesdays. It’s actually quite fun. We don’t have a regular movie theater in Casco Viejo. Traditional movie theaters are in Panama City, which is accessible.

There’s no comedy club in Casco Viejo. If you want to go dancing, there is a venue called Amador, which presents different themes every night. They do everything from a night of flamenco to electronica. It depends on what’s going on. Amador is a privately owned theater.

There is also in Casco Viejo, a National Theater, which is mostly music-oriented. We have ballets. The Christmas Contemporary Dance Festival is coming on October 13th to the 19th. We have the Panama Jazz Festival right now. The opening is on Wednesday and it’s going to be in the National Theater. We have different festivals throughout the year. Any kind of entertainment is in Panama City and the more mellow stuff is in Casco Viejo.
