How's the biking in and around the Panama City, Panama area of Casco Viejo?

The best way to enjoy the historical old section of Casco Viejo in Panama City is by walking.  Everything is pretty close and by walking you will enjoy more of the scenery and the places that you will find along the way to visit. It is also very safe.

However, if you still would like to enjoy a bike ride you can always go from Casco Viejo to the modern part of the city by following the Cinta Costera, which is an avenue that runs all the way from Casco Viejo to Punta Paitilla,  It is full of playgrounds for children, sports courts, parks, green areas, and it has an amazing view of the city and of Panama Bay.

 

Either by walking, biking or roller skates, it is a very common place for Panamanians and for tourists to spend a wonderful afternoon, and then go back to Casco Viejo to have dinner at one of the small but great restaurants and cafes.

 

Close to Casco Viejo and Cinta Costera, you can find Avenida Balboa, Marbella, Obarrio and Punta Paitilla, which are very popular neighborhoods for expats to rent or purchase apartments. if you are a tourist then the area is full of big and small hotels.

If you are a good bike rider, it should only take you 2 to 3 minutes from Casco Viejo to Cinta Costera and once you get there, you will find many miles of bike lanes and you can ride...

There are people who have mountain bikes but to do that, you have to go to hilly places. Mountain bikers usually take their cars to go to hills. Some take buses although I am not sure how they manage to get the bike on the bus, but they just get off at the destination and bike from there to the hills.
