Are there natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, fire or hurricanes in the Panama City, Panama area of Casco Viejo?

Casco Viejo is an area very free of natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and even flooding, which can be common in other sections of the city [Panama City] during the rainy season.
However, fires might happen, especially in some old abandoned buildings (the majority of the structures in Casco Viejo have been rebuilt or are under repair, though), but because of the old nature of the structures, fire is something to be careful about,...

The Panamá Canal, one of the Eight Wonders of the World, was built in Panamá due the strategic location of the Isthmus. It certainly is the narrowest country in the continent, and especially designed to connect the world through the Canal, which is the reason why it is called: "Bridge of the World, Heart of the Universe".
The Canal construction decision was based on the excellent climate. Panamá is free of hurricanes and earthquakes. There are, thought, small "shakes" in some places by the chain of mountains through the country, like in Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, some areas in Darién and Cerro Azul (city of Panamá). But residents seems not to care about them.
On rare occasions, you might experience something similar to hail...when the rain is extremely heavy. In the months from May through end of November is the rainy season...and sometimes it rains a lot, but the good thing is that just in vary rare occasions does the rain remain all day. The rain usually lasts for one or two hours, and then, we have a beautiful rainbow and sunshine. And back to the garden or beach.
In those occasions of heavy rain, there might be some flooding, especially in underprivileged areas, where houses are not built well and rivers are very close by. Lately, there has been some flooding in the city of Panamá... thought, due to heavy construction.
