If you like walking and do not mind sweating a lot, take a walk from the Cinta Costera on Balboa Avenue to el Casco Viejo.  It is possible that the extension of the Cinta Costera from Balboa Avenue is ready now and that should make a very nice and scenic walk.

 

Within Casco Viejo it is probably better to take a cab to the Parque de la Catedral (Catedral Park) and then walk around from there.  There are lots of restaurants and little souvenir shops...
