How much do restaurants cost in the Panama City, Panama area of Casco Viejo?
Patrizia Pinzon - Arco Properties
Casco Viejo, an area of Panama City, Panama, has some of the most delicious restaurants in Panama. Depending on what you are looking for, you can have a great ceviche at the Fish Market (outdoor seating) for $1 and add a beer at another $1 or so, to a fancy dinner with wine. Plan for about $30 per person on the second option, although you can always go higher!

Casco Viejo has become one of the most metropolitan places to eat as many different restaurants have open their gastronomy in the area. You can choose between french, italian, spanish, panamanian cousins which are most of the time excellent!
The prices range are from $8.00 to $40.00. You can be sure that most of the restaurants offer not only food, but a nice place to have a drink, dance and have a good and fun time!

Restaurants in Casco Viejo cost anywhere around US $20 to $30 per person for a full course dinner in a pretty good restaurant in a nice-looking place. Some may even be looking out onto the bay of Panama City, which is very beautiful. There are some restaurants where you have the option to sit on the terrace where you have a view of the bay, but if you are not used to the hot temperature, then sitting outside may be a little tough. In that case, then you can opt to eat indoors...

There are restaurants in Casco Viejo that are not by bay, so you will not have such a nice view, but you can still have a great meal for $20 to $30. You can have nice international cuisine, which would include a salad and a main course; I would definitely recommend seafood or a fish course. You will pay extra for wine and tip is extra, too. I always recommend that you check your bill to make sure that tip is not included because some restaurants do include the tip on the bill. I always double check.
There are also less expensive restaurants in Casco Viejo. You can find a restaurant where you can get a meal for only $10 for one course. These are the smaller restaurants, which are located in Plaza Bolivar and are less expensive; and the food is still very good. They are outdoors; there are tables around the plaza where you can sit down and
enjoy the very nice ambience. There are about four or five restaurants in Plaza Bolivar. Some of these restaurants have both indoor and outdoor tables.
For me, Casco Viejo is the best place to have dinner because there is a great variety of restaurants there. They have seafood, Italian, etc. Just as they have a wide variety of food, they also have a great price range. You can have a very expensive meal that costs about $50 to $60 per person or even more, and you can also have cheaper meals. It is all up to you to choose.
