How are the restaurants in the Panama City, Panama area of Casco Viejo?
Bill Hamilton - Bill Hamilton
There are some excellent restaurants in Casco Viejo, an area of Panama City, Panama, ranging from low price to expensive. The Casa Blanca is very good with a good selection of fish and meats. Manolo Caracol is very popular and serves mixed tapas. Reservations are needed here. La Mostaza is great for steaks and they always have fish also. Really there is something for everyone. La antigua Havana is a nice bar that also does decent food at a reasonable price.

Casco Viejo, a district in Panama City, Panama, has now a collection of over 30 restaurants, so it has something for everyone! My best picks: Clementinas (Panamanian ingredients, gourmet. Great vegetarian options!), L `Osteria (high end Italian), Tantalo (international), Ego & Narciso (at Plaza Bolivar, really nice pasta and Peruvian style ceviche). More budget but good: Diablo Rosso (they don´t open at night though), Casa Sucre, Super Gourmet, Forchetta. Best ice...

More budget but good: Diablo Rosso (they don´t open at night though), Casa Sucre, Super Gourmet, Forchetta. Best ice creams in town: Grand Clement (French) and Dolce Idea (Italian). Best coffee: Bajareque (calle 1era) and Manuela`s expresso at Cafe per Due (try out her pizza). If you are full into vegetarian or fish, try Veggie Moon. More established ones are Manolo Caracol and Mostaza. Believe it or not, the restaurant at the top of the Fish Market is awesome, go on weekends and early lunch. La Rana Dorada has amazing artisanal beer, Capital Bistro has a great roof terrace to enjoy sunset. Grapes is well known for its steak, as well as Puerta de Tierra. If you like less flashy and more causal, Lovaina and Da Vinci might be good spots for you. Great desserts at Segafredo in Plaza Bolivar, where also is Casablanca which is the best known one in the plaza. New stuff opening by Las Bovedas! will keep you posted...

If you want a wonderful meal in a romantic or dazzling setting, then dine in Casco Viejo, a neighborhood in Panama City, Panama. Many of our 30-some cafes/bistros/restaurants have top ratings on degusta panama and Trip Advisor. I am happy to recommend a pleasing restaurant if you prefer a specific ambience and cuisine. Better yet, if you live/stay in Casco Viejo, you have all this at your doorstep. Walking out to a great dinner is one of the pleasures of living here.

Casco Viejo has about 6 of the top 10 restaurants in the city! We have an amazing array of restaurants here. I think there are about forty bars and restaurants all over Casco. We at Barefoot Panama, actually do a walking tour through Casco, which is more of a food tour, and we call it the “Eat and Drink Sampler”. We sample the world’s best coffee and organic chocolate. There are a couple of different home brews here in Panama that we take people to check out. We also let...

We at Barefoot Panama, actually do a walking tour through Casco, which is more of a food tour, and we call it the “Eat and Drink Sampler”. We sample the world’s best coffee and organic chocolate. There are a couple of different home brews here in Panama that we take people to check out. We also let people have a taste test of Panamanian rum and the ceviche (seafood dish) at the famous seafood market.
As far as restaurants, we point them all out to the tourists so that they can make a decision later on as to which restaurants they want to try out because there are many decisions to be made. There is a good seafood place at Plaza Francia and there is a high-end restaurant in Casco called Madrigal. Right across from where I live in Casco is a pizza place called Caffe Per Due, which is owned by an Italian lady. Pizza there costs around $8 and that is thin-crust Italian style pizza. It is fantastic! Casco Viejo has a little bit of every type of food from around the world. There are seafood restaurants, Mexican restaurants, and Peruvian restaurants as well. Diablicos is a Panamanian restaurant, which is well-known here in Casco.

Here in Casco Viejo there are lots of other great restaurants too like.. Puerta de Tierra, Casa Blanca, L'osteria...
The greatest burgers in Casco Viejo are the big "COMPLETE" burgers at Mojitos Sin Mojitos. I'm from Venezuela so I'm used to big fatty burgers (hahahaha) and these ones are the most similar to the ones I ate in Venezuela.
In the city you can visit places like Los Años Locos, Il Teatro and lots more!
Above is a picture of our restaurant. I'm sure you'll love it!:)

Some of the best restaurants in Panama are located in Casco Viejo. (An aerial view of Casco Viejo is shown in the picture at the bottom.) In Casco Viejo, you can find a large variety in our international cuisine with "a Panamanian touch."
I recommend the best time to visit is in the afternoon, because you can walk around the streets that are filled with history and you'll have a cosmopolitan feeling of the area and at the same time you'll find many...

Also you can enjoy the beautiful view of Panama City, the Causeway, and last but not least, the Panama Canal.

There are a lot of options for food in Casco Viejo. If you want a casual dinner or lunch, you can find places where they serve Panamanian food. You can also find fusion and international food. You can find Peruvian food here.

We also have several steak houses such as Grapes Restaurant. Grapes is my favorite restaurant in Casco Viejo because they serve great steaks, risotto, arepas, which is a Venezuelan dish, and they also serve other international foods. They also serve Salmon tartare and lamb chops. Grapes has a big menu you of international dishes. If you are into kosher food, they also offer that, so you will definitely enjoy eating there. Their dishes range from US $15 to $25. I definitely recommend Grapes Restaurant.
Pips is another good restaurant in Casco Viejo and it is one of those less expensive restaurants in the area that I have been to. For lunch, I recommend Tantalo and they have a nice roof bar, too. A meal in Tantalo costs about $7.50.
We also have street food in Casco Viejo, although they are not sold in food carts but they are very cheap. They sell food in small stores and the food is in small disposable food containers similar to a Tupperware. Rice with chicken or pork, lentils, and fried plantains cost around $4 there.
