The traditions in Casco Viejo are mostly religious. Most traditions are practiced to honor patron saints. They practice these traditions by means of plays, carnivals, or processions. You will see people walking behind the patron saint’s statue on a procession.
Casco Viejo is once again becoming the center for weddings. Some even bring oxen-drawn carts like people used to do many years ago to take the bride to the church to get married.

We have the Church of the Golden Altar (pictured), which is big on bridal parties. It is an altar made of gold from 500 years ago. The people of Casco Viejo still honor centuries old traditions.
